Adult education

Of the 2,500 students studying at the University Consortium of Seinäjoki some 300 are aiming at a degree, 1,000 are studying through the open university and 1,200 are on continuing education programmes.  Most of them are studying while working, which imposes demands on both teaching methods and the scheduling of teaching.  Indeed, effort is invested in counselling and in utilising virtual learning environments.  Teaching is frequently scheduled to take place in the evenings and at weekends.  Further information on adult education.

Teaching is an effective way of putting research findings into practice and practical knowledge into teaching.  Adult education moreover develops the universities’ connections with working life.  The adult education offered by the University Consortium corresponds particularly to the needs for adult education in the South Ostrobothnia region, but for some the recruitment base is nationwide.  There is extensive co-operation with the Summer University of Southern Ostrobothnia and with Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences.
